UnitedHealthcare was incorporated in 1977. In 2007, they had over 5 million Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in Medicare Part D prescription drug plans. Those consumers saved a total of $30 billion in out-of-pocket expenses over the first two years of the program. It was in 1998 when United HealthCare Corporation was renamed UnitedHealth Group. Then in 2012 UHC refreshed its brand identity by launching an updated, modern logo along with a new visual design system. Today they offer the following types of Medicare Plans:

  • Medicare Advantage Plans – You will find that most Medicare Advantage plans combine Medicare Part A, Part B and Part D coverage all into one plan. Generally, members can take advantage of additional benefits, like hearing, fitness, and more with these plans.
  • Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans – A standardized Medicare supplement insurance plan will help with some of the out-of-pocket costs that Original Medicare doesn’t pay. It will also offer features such as no referrals needed and no network restrictions but only if your doctor accepts Medicare patients. Additionally, you can choose to enroll in a Part D prescription drug plan.
  • Medicare Prescription Drug Plans – A Part D plan will offer prescription drug coverage. This plan will help pay for some Medicare-covered prescription drugs it may be used along with or in addition to Original Medicare and with Medicare supplement insurance plans.
  • Medicare Special Needs Plans – UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans are designed to provide you more care for your Medicare dollar. They generally offer benefits and services that go beyond Original Medicare and most will include coverage for prescription drugs. They offer a variety of different Medicare Advantage plans to fit your health and budget needs.
